1. Agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the MovieSwipe iPhone application and related support website. By using MovieSwipe, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be able to legally agree to these Terms where you live. If you use MovieSwipe for someone else, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that person.
2. Accounts and sign-in
Some features require Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping access to your Apple Account secure and for activity that occurs through your MovieSwipe account. Do not impersonate another person, use someone else’s credentials, or try to access another account.
Your profile should use information you have the right to share. MovieSwipe may limit or suspend access when it is reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or third parties from fraud, abuse, or security risk.
3. Profiles, Friends, and Watch Together
MovieSwipe lets you choose what to place in your profile, what to share through a share code, and which friend requests to accept. People connected to you may see the profile information and movie lists that the app makes available to that connection. You are responsible for considering what you share.
Watch Together is a nearby comparison feature. You must have the right to share any profile or movie-choice information you send to nearby participants, and you should use it only with people you know and trust. MovieSwipe is not responsible for what another participant records or shares outside the app.
4. Your content
You keep your rights in information and content you submit, such as your profile text. You give MovieSwipe the limited permission needed to host, process, display, and transmit that content to provide the features you choose, including showing selected profile details to your accepted friends and nearby participants.
Do not submit content that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, deceptive, invasive of another person’s privacy, or that infringes another person’s rights. MovieSwipe may remove content or restrict access when necessary to address a violation or protect the service.
5. In-app purchases
MovieSwipe may offer optional digital features through Apple’s in-app purchase system. The price, availability, and description shown at the time of purchase apply. Apple processes the payment and provides the transaction record; MovieSwipe receives the entitlement needed to unlock or restore the purchased feature.
Purchases are associated with the Apple Account used for the transaction. Use the in-app Restore Purchases control when you need to recover an eligible entitlement. Refunds, billing disputes, and payment-method changes are handled through Apple’s purchase support process, subject to Apple’s terms.
6. Third-party services and content
MovieSwipe depends on services from Apple, Supabase, The Movie Database (TMDB), Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), and, for some trailers, YouTube. Those services may have separate terms, policies, availability, and account requirements. MovieSwipe does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their independent content, conduct, or outages.
Movie information, images, availability, ratings, and release details can be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate. TMDB content is provided under TMDB’s own terms and is not a guarantee that a title is available to watch in your location.
7. Acceptable use
You may use MovieSwipe only for its intended personal, lawful purpose. You may not:
- reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, copy, resell, or redistribute the service or its catalog data except where law permits;
- probe, scan, or test the service for vulnerabilities, bypass access controls, or interfere with its operation;
- use the service to harass, stalk, threaten, defraud, or expose another person;
- upload malicious code or content, or use automation to create accounts or make requests; or
- use MovieSwipe in a way that violates applicable law or another service’s terms.
8. Availability and disclaimers
MovieSwipe is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise that every title, recommendation, notification, nearby session, account operation, or third-party integration will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. Recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees about a movie’s quality, suitability, legality, or availability.
To the extent permitted by law, MovieSwipe disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits a right or remedy that cannot legally be limited.
9. Ending use and account deletion
You can stop using MovieSwipe at any time. You can request account deletion from the app using Settings → Delete Account; see the account deletion instructions. Deleting the account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription or remove a purchase from your Apple Account. MovieSwipe may retain limited information when required by law or reasonably needed for security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service changes. The “Last updated” date above identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires a different form of notice or consent.
