1. Scope and contact
This Privacy Policy describes how MovieSwipe handles information when you use the MovieSwipe SwiftUI iPhone application or contact MovieSwipe support. In this policy, “MovieSwipe,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of the MovieSwipe service. For privacy questions, contact support@movieswipe.app.
2. Information MovieSwipe handles
Information you provide
- Sign-in details. When you use Sign in with Apple, MovieSwipe receives the Apple identity information made available for the sign-in exchange, such as an account identifier and, when provided, your name or relay email address.
- Profile and social information. Your username, bio, profile presentation, share code, Top 10, super likes, friend requests, and accepted friend connections are used to provide the profile and Friends features.
- Support messages. If you email support, we receive the message and any information you choose to include.
Information created while you use the app
- Movie choices. Swipes, watchlist entries, watched titles, recommendations, genre preferences, and related taste signals are used to operate and personalize MovieSwipe.
- Purchase state. The app receives StoreKit transaction and entitlement state, such as whether an eligible feature is unlocked. Apple handles payment details.
- Device and app information. The app may handle a device or push identifier, operating-system and app-version information, and technical information needed for sign-in, notifications, security, and support.
Information exchanged nearby
When you use Watch Together, nearby iPhones discover the session and exchange the information needed for that shared comparison, which can include a display name, an avatar seed, selected movie choices, watchlist items, and taste or profile information that the feature presents. Nearby discovery uses a rotating opaque session identifier. The active session uses Apple’s encrypted MultipeerConnectivity transport; this exchange is between nearby participants rather than a remote MovieSwipe room.
3. Services that help MovieSwipe work
Supabase
MovieSwipe uses Supabase Auth for Sign in with Apple and Supabase database, row-level access controls, and Realtime services for account profiles, friends, share-code lookup, and friend activity. A registered device token can be stored for authenticated push notifications. Supabase processes this information on our behalf under its own terms and privacy policy.
The Movie Database (TMDB)
MovieSwipe makes direct requests to TMDB for movie and TV metadata, genres, images, release information, and related content. These requests use catalog identifiers and search terms needed for the catalog feature. MovieSwipe does not send your profile, friend graph, or swipe history to TMDB as part of ordinary catalog requests. TMDB’s terms of use and privacy policy apply to TMDB’s service.
Apple Push Notification service
If you allow notifications, Apple Push Notification service (APNs) delivers friend-related notifications to your device. MovieSwipe and its notification service use the device token and the notification payload needed to make delivery possible. Apple may process notification data under Apple’s own policies. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings.
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
MovieSwipe can show ad-supported placements through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Google may process device, diagnostic, and ad-interaction information to deliver, measure, and protect its advertising service. MovieSwipe does not use AdMob as a way to publish your profile or friend data. Review Google’s privacy policy for Google’s handling of information and available controls.
Apple StoreKit
Optional in-app purchases use Apple’s StoreKit. Apple processes the transaction, payment method, tax, and refund relationship. MovieSwipe receives the transaction result and entitlement state needed to unlock or restore the feature; MovieSwipe does not receive your full payment card details. Apple’s Media Services Terms also apply.
YouTube and other linked services
When you open a trailer or another linked third-party page, that service may receive information under its own privacy policy. MovieSwipe does not control third-party pages after you leave the app.
4. How information is used
MovieSwipe uses information to:
- provide the swipe deck, watchlist, recommendations, profiles, Friends, and Watch Together features;
- authenticate accounts, protect account access, and enforce the choices you make about social sharing;
- register and deliver optional friend notifications;
- process and restore in-app entitlements through Apple;
- deliver and measure ad-supported placements when those placements are enabled;
- respond to support requests, maintain reliability, and investigate abuse, fraud, or security issues; and
- meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
MovieSwipe is not designed to sell your profile, friend graph, or movie library. The app does not declare cross-app tracking as a purpose for its own data use.
5. Your choices and rights
- Use the app locally. Core movie discovery can run with data stored on your iPhone. Account-backed features require an account and a network connection.
- Manage permissions. You can change notification, nearby, and local-network permissions in iOS Settings. Some features will not work when their permission is off.
- Manage social sharing. You choose whether to sign in, share a code, accept a friend request, or remove a friend connection.
- Delete your account. Follow the steps on the Delete account page. The in-app flow deletes the authenticated account and associated cloud data, then clears local account data.
- Contact us. Email support@movieswipe.app with a privacy request. We may need to verify your request before responding.
6. Retention and security
Local app data remains on your iPhone until you remove it through the app, clear it through the available controls, or delete the app. Account-backed data is retained for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with law, and honor your deletion request. Support correspondence may be kept as needed to handle the request and maintain business records.
MovieSwipe uses access controls and encrypted network connections for the services it operates. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.
7. Children
MovieSwipe is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to MovieSwipe, contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when MovieSwipe’s features, services, or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date above identifies the current version. If a change is material, we will provide notice through a reasonable channel.
