Start with the deck
MoviNite uses four simple choices to keep your library useful:
- Right records a movie you enjoyed.
- Left moves past a movie you do not want.
- Down saves a movie to your Watchlist.
- Up leaves a movie as an unsure choice.
Your Discover deck uses those choices alongside movie metadata and your selected genres. Open Watchlist to revisit the titles you saved.
Account and profile
Sign in with Apple adds account-backed features. Your profile can include a username, bio, Top 10, taste signals, and a share code. MoviNite uses Supabase to store the account profile and friend connections.
- Open Profile and choose the account option.
- Sign in with Apple and finish your profile.
- Use your share code when you want a friend to find you.
Friends and share codes
Open Friends to enter another person’s share code, send a request, and manage requests you receive. After a request is accepted, you can view the profile information and Top 10 that the app makes available to friends.
To stop sharing with someone, open their friend profile and use the remove action. A friend connection is separate from your Sign in with Apple identity.
Watch Together
Watch Together is for people in the same place. Turn on the nearby option in MoviNite, keep the participating iPhones close, and accept the system permissions requested for nearby interaction or the local network.
The session uses Apple’s nearby connectivity and sends the selected movie and profile data needed for the shared comparison to the nearby participants. It does not create a remote watch room or play a film for you.
Notifications
Friend activity notifications use Apple Push Notification service (APNs). You need an account, an internet connection, and permission from iOS. Delivery can be delayed or unavailable when a device is offline or notification permission is disabled.
- Open MoviNite Settings and choose Notifications.
- Confirm the MoviNite notification controls are enabled.
- In iOS Settings, open Notifications → MovieSwipe and allow notifications.
Purchases and restore
Optional features are sold through Apple’s StoreKit. Payment is handled by Apple; MoviNite does not receive your full payment details. To recover an eligible purchase, open the purchase screen in MoviNite and choose Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase.
Prices and availability are shown by Apple in the app. Refund requests go through Apple’s purchase support process.
Movie details, trailers, and ads
MoviNite requests movie details, genres, images, and related information from The Movie Database (TMDB). Trailer links can open a YouTube watch page. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices.
Ad-supported placements may be delivered by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). If you have an ad-free entitlement, the app uses that StoreKit purchase to suppress the placements it controls.
